Understanding Your Speed Test Results

If you are using the speed test to measure your internet connection’s performance, here are some guidelines to help you interpret the results:

Download Speed:

  • Good: Download speed above 30 Mbps
  • Bad: Download speed below 25 Mbps

Upload Speed:

  • Good: Upload speed above 2 Mbps
  • Bad: Upload speed below 0.5 Mbps

Ping:

  • Good: Ping below 25 ms
  • Bad: Ping above 50 ms

Jitter:

  • Good: Jitter below 10 ms
  • Bad: Jitter above 15 ms

What the Results Mean:

  • Good Results: If your download speed is above 25 Mbps, upload speed is above 3 Mbps, ping is below 50 ms, and jitter is below 30 ms, your connection is suitable for streaming HD and 4K content on Orbital TV. You should experience smooth playback without buffering.
  • Bad Results: If your download speed is below 25 Mbps, upload speed is below 3 Mbps, ping is above 50 ms, or jitter is above 30 ms, you may experience buffering or interruptions while streaming. Consider upgrading your internet plan for a better streaming experience.

Additional Tips:

  • For the best streaming experience, use a wired Ethernet connection instead of Wi-Fi.
  • If a wired connection is not available, connect to the 5GHz network if your router is compatible. This can provide a more stable and faster wireless connection compared to the 2.4GHz network.
  • Ensure no other devices are consuming a large portion of your bandwidth during the speed test.
  • If your results are consistently below the recommended speeds, contact your internet service provider for assistance.
